Online backup & recovery is one of the smartest investments you will ever make in your business. There simply is no better way to protect your data assets and guarantee operational continuity in the event of a disaster.
Computers have dramatically improved the way organizations use information, but as information systems grow more and more complex, a lot can go wrong. Natural disasters, accidents, hardware failure, or viruses can instantly wipe out information and leave an organization crippled. As easy as it is to lose everything - programs, emails, files - it's now even easier to protect it.
CRC DataProtection uses online backup technology to protect critical information systems and data, and does it far more reliably and efficiently than tape backup. Tape backup and recovery is slow to administer, backup tapes are vulnerable to theft or physical damage, and tape data is unreliable with high recovery failure rates.
The following table highlights some of the critical differences between tape and online backup using CRC DataProtection*:

*Online backup service refers to those services offered by CRC DataProtection
Agentless Backup & Recovery
Instead of having "agent" software installed on each machine, you install CRC's Data Storage (DS) Client at a single administration point, and manage backups for as many networked machines as you wish. Data can be protected across entire remote and branch office networks with this agentless architecture with just a single click.
Continuous Data Protection (CDP)
Data is backed up continuously, as it is written to disk, giving organizations nearly unlimited recovery points. This saves time in the event of any data loss event which occurs within a business day, saving all work completed prior to the data loss event, compared with a daily backup schedule which would require all such work to be repeated.
Message-Level Restore (MLR)
MLR allows users to selectively back up and restore individual mailboxes and email messages for one user or for an entire network, for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes/Domino and Novell GroupWise. Using MLR’s selective filtering, administrators can save time, money and resources by restoring only selected mailboxes or emails, instead of having to restore the entire Exchange, Domino or GroupWise databases.
Autonomic Self-Healing Backups
Autonomic Healing provides users with an automated way to identify and correct problematic files in backups, repairing corrupted files or logical inconsistencies, and guaranteeing recoverability and integrity of backup data.
Bare-Metal Restore (BMR)
BMR allows administrators to restore backed-up systems completely on new hardware – regardless of manufacturer – including local data, user profiles, registry/system state, service pack files and encrypted files. It provides this in an easy-to-administer, highly-proven process that saves IT administrators time and money.
Extensive Database & OS Support
CRC DataProtection offers extensive support for software platforms:
- Operating Systems: Mac OSX, EMC VMWare, Windows 2000/XP/2003, Novell Netware, IBM AIX, SUN Solaris, HP-UX, Hp-Tru64 UNIX, IBM iSeries OS-400, Red Hat Linux, Novell Suse Linux
- Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server & Outlook 2000/2003, Oracle 8+, IBM DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, IBM Lotus Notes/Domino Server, Novell Groupwise
Protection of Online Systems 24x7
Protect systems without taking them offline, virtually eliminating backup window down-time while improving the
granularity of the backup being performed with up-to-the-minute current backup data.
Capacity-Based Licensing
Instead of per-seat licensing such as those in agent-based systems, with CRC DataProtection you only pay for the total storage capacity used, whether you're protecting three or three-hundred machines.
Automated Backup Process
Backup processes can be
scheduled and automated to run with minimal administration, reducing human involvement in your backup infrastructure and freeing up staff to focus on core business tasks.
Unlimited Scalable Architecture
Since CRC DataProtection uses an agentless backup architecture, your network has room to grow without constrains of backup administration.
Fully Redundant Backup Data Storage
With CRC DataProtection, all backup data is stored securely,
offsite, within two fully-redundant, disaster-hardened
data centers.
Disk-to-disk backup with data stored offsite means better protection and integrity of your data.
